32GB HTC One Coming to AT&T and Sprint on April 19

AT&T and Sprint recently announced, albeit separately, plans to begin selling 32GB HTC One smartphones starting April 19 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. In addition to that, AT&T said that it will be the only carrier in the United States to launch a 64GB version of the HTC One. That version of the smartphone will sell for $299.99 with a new two-year contract.

T-Mobile also announced that it will begin selling the HTC One "sometime in the spring", and said that it will charge $99 down with 24 equal payments of $20 in a low-subsidy, no contract plan. Online reservations for AT&T's HTC One began Thursday, April 4. Sprint began reservations on Friday, April 5.

AT&T will also be offering a free HTC Media Link HD wireless HDMI adapter with the device for a limited time. The device will allow you to connect your HTC One to an HDTV. However, you will also have to sign a separate two-year agreement for the adapter as well. AT&T and Sprint also confirmed that the HTC One will be available in both black and silver.

The HTC One comes with a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, an aluminum case and has a 4.7" full HD screen. It comes equipped with Android 4.1 for its operating system as well as a new HTC Sense interface that is comparable to the tiles used in the Windows Phone 8. The device will also run on AT&T and Sprint's LTE wireless networks and comes with a 2300 mAh battery.

The only carrier to not announce availability for the HTC One was Verizon, who declined to comment on plans for the smartphone. It seems unlikely that the carrier will have the device, especially considering the fact that HTC doesn't list Verizon as a carrier on its website.

When the device was announced back in February, one of the biggest innovations that HTC was highlighting was the Ultrapixel camera. This camera has been designed to take better photos in low light than traditional cameras and is rated at 4 megapixels. However, HTC argues that it is capable of capturing more light and uses fewer, though larger, pixels for better pictures.

Like I said earlier, reservations for the HTC One are available on AT&T and Sprint, so if you've been waiting for the opportunity to get yours, then don't wait any longer! Head on over to AT&T or Sprint's website and reserve yours before they all run out!

A T-Mobile iPhone 4S is Only One Hack Away

T-MobileThe iPhone 4S has already outdone its predecessors by making itself available with three different carriers, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint, but it seems as if some hackers didn't think that three carriers was quite good enough. So you know what they did? They hacked the device to run on a fourth carrier, T-Mobile. That's right, if you are a loyal T-Mobile customer and you desperately want the iPhone 4S, all you have to do is follow the instructions of two hackers.

Hackers Michael Capozzi and Daniel Scaleb, via Pastebin and a YouTube video, posted step-by-step instructions that specifically show you how to hack an iPhone 4S in order to make it compatible with T-Mobile's service as T-Mobile is now the only major U.S. carrier that does not support the device.

The modification requires you to insert the original AT&T SIM card, dial 611 for customer service, then drop the call. The next step has you turning on "Airplane" mode, removing the legitimate SIM card and reinserting a T-Mobile SIM card. But that's not all. As Scaleb said on Pastebin, the next step involves turning off "Airplane" mode. This will cause the iPhone to search for a network.

The EDGE network will automatically activate, after which you should turn off then phone for 20 to 30 seconds and then turn it on again. Once you turn the phone back on, tap "Use Cellular Connection" when the "Activation Required" screen pops up. After you perform all of these steps, removing the SIM card and reinserting it into your device should unlock the phone and make it compatible with T-Mobile's network.

The "hack" seems pretty simple though tech site Gizmodo, which was also one of the first sites to report about it, has said that it has received conflicting reports about whether or not the unlocking trick actually works. Regardless, if you want to give it a shot yourself and get a T-Mobile compatible iPhone 4S then go for it, though there is another option. As of last week, GSM iPhone 4S smartphones became available for $650, so there's always that.

T-Mobile Offering $100 Off the G-Slate

T-Mobile G-SlateThere's a revolution coming and its name is tablet. Tablets are blowing up the tech industry right now with all the biggest names in technology, like Apple, Samsung, T-Mobile, Acer and others, pumping out tablets like there is no tomorrow. People who continuously find themselves working on the go have really taken a liking to the new rage of tablet technology, with many business professionals taking them on the road instead of a laptop.

Now there are a lot of tablets out there and most people have probably only ever heard of the iPad. Well, ladies and gentlemen, there are actually a whole slew of different tablets out there aside from the iPad, and some of them are actually really good.

One such device is the G-Slate from T-Mobile. The G-Slate is T-mobile's first 4g Android 3.0 tablet and if you act now, you can get a pretty sweet deal on one. Want to know a secret? Of course you do! T-Mobile didn't really plan on this getting out to the public, but when was the last time a technology company was able to keep anything a secret? If you call up T-Mobile right now, you can take the price of the G-Slate and slice off a nice $100.

This $100 discount wasn't offered to the public, it was only offered to those people who signed up for a special promotion offer that T-Mobile recently teased. But once the internet found out, it was all downhill from there because that little "select" promotion is now open to everybody!

That's right, all you have to do is reference the promotional code GSLATE100 and you can grab yourself a brand new, 4G Honeycomb tablet for a pretty $430. That is, of course, if you have an existing voice plan or you decide to sign up for one and are willing to commit to a two-year data contract on top of all of that. Did I mention the $100 off is a mail-in rebate?

If all that red tape doesn't phase you, then congratulations! You will soon be the new owner of a discounted T-Mobile G-Slate tablet! But if you decide to do it, then you had better do it fast because the offer ends on April 27th.

T-Mobile G2x and G-Slate Not Coming Until April 20th

T-Mobile G-Salte and G2xI love writing about tablets and smartphones because everybody is so excited about them! Smartphones and tablets have really taken off thanks to products like the Apple iPad and the Motorola Droid, and since they brought new life into these markets people just can't get enough of them.

Since people are so infatuated with these devices, there are always a lot of rumors floating around the internet about them. Nothing gets talk buzzing about your product like some good ol' fashioned internet rumor spouting and the latest in both smartphone and tablet rumors comes to us from T-Mobile.

There has been a lot of speculation that the G-Slate from T-Mobile would be released on March 23rd. However, as that is only five days away, it does not seem likely that the 23rd release date is going to happen. Companies like to do that. They like to tell you one date so you keep talking about their product, then when that date comes close, they push it back so you get even more excited for it.

We'll for anybody who has been following this release, I have some news, good or bad depending on how you take it. It appears that the T-Mobile G-Slate tablet as well as the T-Mobile G2x will drop together on April 20th. An official announcement is said to come soon from CTIA.

However, like the March 23rd release date, these dates are subject to change and will if they need to (you know what we mean, HTC Thunderbolt). This does give you some extra time to save up if you really want one of these devices but can't afford it now.

4G on T-Mobile Tablets

t-mobile 4g
On Friday, December 10, T-Mobile announced that by next year they plan to add 4G technology to tablets as an integrated wireless connection. One thing that the company unfortunately did not address is which tablets they would be providing this service for.

"T-Mobile will continue to be at the forefront of wireless innovation, delivering an aggressive 4G product lineup in 2011, including 4G tablets," said T-Mobile spokesman Tom Harlin.

"T-Mobile is working closely with the majority of our OEM partners to deliver 4G products by integrating HSPA+ into roadmaps in 2011 as the dominant global standard," the company said in a statement on Friday. "Consumers will continue to see HSPA+ fuel future innovation in a variety of mobile consumer electronics from smartphones and tablets to emerging devices.”

Already, T-Mobile has launched their MyTouch 4G, which was the first of the company’s phone lineups to utilize 4G technology, and obviously from the statements, the company plans to definitely improve its 4G technology use in the near future for phones and tablets. It was in November of this year that T-Mobile announced that its network was worthy of having the title “4G.”

T-Mobile said that they had turned on its HSPA+ in six more metro areas including Chicago. They also announced the retail availability of the myTouch 4G phone and a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with built-in HSPA+.

“HSPA+ is evolving a far more ambitious and long-term road map than was originally envisioned. T-Mobile is using an upgrade to HSPA+ to deliver faster 4G speeds today and is quickly bringing a number of HSPA+ devices to market that greatly enhance the mobile data experience for its customers,” the company said.

T-Mobile chief network officer Neville Ray said, "By the end of this year, we'll have two times [the coverage] out there from anything approaching a competitive LTE or WiMAX footprint."

There has been some major controversy brewing recently over the true definition and wireless standards of “4G.” This all began when the ITU, the global body that is charged with deciding on the wireless standards for things like 4G, said that nothing that was being sold in the United States actually met 4G standards. This means that everyone is making up their own 4G standards and at least in the U.S., 4G doesn’t necessarily mean the same things from carrier to carrier. T-Mobile wants to make it very clear that its HSPA+ is just as fast as Sprint’s 4G WiMAX.

“The footprint of our 4G service is not something that competitors are going to match anytime soon.”

It’s great to hear that tablets on T-Mobile could have 4G capabilities sometime in the near future. It would just be nice to know which tablets they plan to provide the service for. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for them to begin offering 4G service. Until then though, I guess we’re just going to have to wait patiently for T-Mobile to get everything all together and figured out.

T-Mobile Fender MyTouch 3G

Limited Edition T-Mobile MyTouch 3G FenderWay back in October, T-Mobile announced a new Android that was in the making. Most people just assumed that the MyTouch 3G was going to be passed off and that the company would move on to other Android projects. But what T-Mobile decided to do instead was to completely re-engineering the device.

The new version of the phone is coming out as a special edition in partnership with the world renowned guitar company Fender. The new phone will sport a fancy woodgrain finish on the front and back with the Fender name on the back.Of all the phones on the market this one has to have one of the coolest cases around.

However, a fancy new look isn't the only thing being added to the MyTouch 3G. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also said to be added to the device. The desperately-desired feature has been on the minds of everybody wanting the MyTouch 3G and is sure to be one of the key factors for some and the deciding factor for many when buying the phone.

Among other features that come with the MyTouch 3G is a 16GB microSD card as well as some pre-loaded music. You will also get access to the Android Market which contains over 10,000 apps as well as integration of Google's services. while many people are still going to go to the Nexus One over the MyTouch 3G, at least the MyTouch actually has consistent 3G.

If you are looking for a last-generation Android hardware with one of the most stylish looks and a 3.5mm headphone jack, than you really can't beat the Limited Edition Fender MyTouch 3G from T-Mobile. It has everything you need in an Android and more and it looks really cool.
